Mallacoota Service Centre recently resumed its much-anticipated Storytime sessions, and it exceeded all expectations with a whopping 16 children and seven parents attending for a day of crocodile-themed books and activities, including a reading of Huw Lewis-Jones' book Croc O’Clock, a rendition of Never Smile at a Crocodile, and crocodile puppet-making class.
Storytime sessions are for children aged 2 to 5. The sessions run for 45 minutes and include stories, songs, dancing, poems and rhymes and craft activities.
Storytime:
· Encourages children to develop a love of reading, books and libraries at a young age.
· Stimulates imagination, ideas and interests.
· Teaches effective listening skills.
· Helps develop pre-reading skills.
· Introduces the library as a fun, inviting place to be for children and parents.
· Promotes awareness of library resources.
· Provides opportunities to socialise with other children and caregivers, and have fun.
Storytime in Mallacoota runs every Thursday, 2.30pm-3.15pm.
