Community satisfaction surveys are conducted by all Victorian councils, where independent research companies survey local residents by phone.
The survey checks the community’s perceived satisfaction with Council’s performance and services.
Council will be introducing mechanisms to capture feedback from community members regarding services they use to evaluate performance to compare with the perception survey results.
Results of the 2023 survey have shown a state-wide decline in community satisfaction. This is due to many factors, some of which are outside of Council’s control, including economic and supply chain challenges.
The survey conducted in 2023 was the first time that the survey has been conducted on a quarterly basis, with 100 East Gippsland residents contacted each quarter.
Council's 2023 results showed either an improvement or remained steady for seven of the 15 indicators, when compared with Council's 2022 survey results.
The survey results have confirmed that Council will continue to focus on improving Community Decisions, Informing the Community and being strong advocates for the East Gippsland region.
