TWO MAJOR PROJECTS TO BE OPENED THIS WEEK
For immediate release – Friday, 6 November 2009
Two major East Gippsland projects valued at more than $4 million will be officially opened on Thursday by Senator for Victoria, Gavin Marshall.
They are the new $2.5 million Cunninghame Arm Bridge at Lakes Entrance and the $1.57 million Bairnsdale Squash and Table Tennis Centre at Lucknow.
The bridge that replaces the original iconic timber structure built in 1937 will be opened at 10.00 am and provides for use by emergency vehicles as well as pedestrians.
The Bairnsdale Squash and Table Tennis Centre that incorporates state of the art facilities for table tennis and squash players as well as indoor bowlers, will be opened at 11.30 am.
Mayor Cr Mendy Urie said the openings would mark an important day for East Gippsland.
“These are projects that figure strongly in our ongoing plans to improve regional infrastructure,” she said.
“They will provide great benefits to our local community and as well as visitors.”
