Home>About this Site
Nestled in the far east of Victoria, the Shire features wonderful coastline scenery, a lakes and river system to match anywhere in the world, rugged high country, extensive national parks and state forests - and above all, a warm, friendly welcome from the region’s community.
A population of around 40,000 people resides in the East Gippsland Shire, over 11,000 of these in the major commercial centre of Bairnsdale. A 280km drive – or three hours – will take you from Melbourne to Bairnsdale, the gateway to the region from the west.

| The following details some of the great features about the site:-
Site Navigation The design of the site is simple and easy to move around in. Major services have been placed on the homepage so that you can easily access the information that you require.
Site index and search have also been included for those people who like to navigate a site in this way. The search facility allows for a simple search of all text within the site, or if you would like a more detailed search of the website including all PDF documents, simply tick for a "detailed search". The site index has every page listed for users who might like to use this method of navigation.
Printer Friendly A printer friendly button is available on each page of the website, use this when you need to print a page.
Accessibility The website has been specifically designed to ensure that it is compliant with worldwide standards for disability access. The site is W3C Level A compliant, with additional features from Level AA and Level AAA.
A Larger Text version is available by clicking the "Larger Text" option at the bottom of the page.
Also available is a text only version, this can be accessed by clicking the "Remove Images" at the bottom of the page. The "Remove Images" version reads web site information from the same source at the "Display Images" version, therefore ensuring both versions display exactly the same up-to-date information.
PDF Downloads We have attempted to keep PDF downloads to a minimum, however there are certain instances where PDF's are necessary. We have used Adobe Acrobat Version 4 for our PDF's and you can download Adobe Reader from this page.
Customer Request We'd appreciate any feedback you may have about the website. A Feedback form is available. | |
