What is community building?

The Goals of the Community Building Unit:

§          To Support opportunities for Community Wellbeing, through collaboration, facilitation, advocacy and leadership.

§          To work in partnership with our diverse communities to support and promote community wellbeing.

A range of community and health services are provided throughout East Gippsland. Council contributes to services such as Home & Community Care, Maternal & Child Health, Senior Citizens, Community Small Grants and Recreational Services.

East Gippsland Shire also auspices a number of Community Development projects such as the Rural Access project, Let's GET (Gippsland East Transport) Connected Project and the Youth CAAB (Community Action and Alliance Building) Project (make these links for more detail).

Council monitors current community trends that impact on the health & well being of communities and assists communities, service providers and key stakeholders by providing information, facilitation, and advocacy.
